Southlake Regional Health Centre is a 400-bed hospital, located in Newmarket, offering the most comprehensive variety of tertiary care programs of any community hospital facility in Ontario. Along with a full range of clinical programs for residents of northern York Region and south Simcoe County, Southlake offers five provincially designated regional programs for all residents of York Region, Simcoe County and, in some cases, as far north as Muskoka. Southlake Regional Health Centre offers: * Regional Cancer Centre for the Central LHIN; * Regional Cardiac care, including open heart surgery; * Regional paediatrics and perinatal care; * Nationally renowned eating disorder program for children and adolescents; * Child and adolescent mental health. With a history dating back to 1978, the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation generates, safeguards and grows revenue, relationships and resources to advance Southlake Regional Health Centre. The Foundation successfully completed its first-ever capital campaign in 2004, raising more than $16.5 million. It is now in the midst of its most ambitious campaign ever to raise $60 million to build a Regional Cancer Centre at Southlake. Major Gifts Officer This is a one-year contract position, with the potential of a one-year renewal. As an important member of the campaign team, made up of staff and volunteers, you will report to the Campaign Director, and be responsible for cultivating and soliciting major gifts of $10,000+ in support of the Regional Cancer Centre at Southlake, along with the existing Major Gifts Officer. Directly supporting and managing the campaign activities of 5 to 10 volunteers, you will: * create and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies; * co-ordinate and manage successful donor visits and solicitations, including preparing briefing documents and proposals, providing logistical and coaching support, and accompanying on calls, as required; * prepare acknowledgments to major donors, ensuring prompt, tailored, accurate thank-you messages and letters, as appropriate. Your responsibilities will also include: * leading solicitation and stewardship calls to individual, corporate and foundation major gift prospects and donors, engaging medical staff and campaign canvassers, as needed; * actively participating in the identification and qualification of major gift prospects; * participating in prospect review and strategy sessions. * Assisting with all three divisions of the campaign - Leadership, Major Gifts and Community Gifts. The ideal candidate for this dynamic position will have: * post-secondary degree or diploma; * 2 to 5 years of major gift fundraising experience, preferably in a health-care environment; * proven track record in soliciting and closing major gifts of over $50,000. * demonstrated experience creating and implementing customized cultivation and solicitation strategies; * well developed level of computer literacy (MS Office, Power Point); * demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; * excellent organizational and time-management skills; * ability to work towards strategic goals within deadlines; * superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Campaign experience and a background with Raiser's Edge are definite assets.
