Job Details: Social Worker - BSW

Company: Mamawetan Churchill River Health Region – The Mamawetan Churchill River Health Region is a regional health authority that covers the northern quarter of the province of Saskatchewan.

Description: A challenging career opportunity exists in La Ronge, Saskatchewan with the Mental Health Program for an energetic, caring professional who can exercise sound clinical judgment.
This is an outreach position working primarily with children, youth and their families. You will provide mental health promotion activities as well as conduct assessments and provide counseling and case management services. You will provide educational and therapeutic group work services as required. Travel on gravel roads and in light aircraft may be required. The ability to speak Cree would be an asset in this position.

Education:
• Bachelor of Social Work, Indian Social Work
To qualify you will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse range of community groups and service providers
• Be innovative, flexible and culturally sensitive in working with clients
• Ability to develop and present workshops and programs on mental health promotion topics relevant to children and youth
• Knowledge of the dynamics and the intervention skills related to family systems
• Knowledge of the effects of trauma and abuse
• Knowledge of human development and change
• Ability to deal with crisis situations and conduct suicide risk assessments
• Ability to assess clients, develop and implement care plans
• Work independently and interdependently as a member of a multidisciplinary team
• Valid Saskatchewan Drivers License

Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement. Salary and benefits in accordance with the SAHO/Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan Collective Agreement governing the position and corresponding to education and previous experience.

Annual education leave, relocation assistance, bi-weekly northern district allowance, retention bonus and one week of special northern leave upon the completion of each year of service.
