Length of Assignment: Full-Time, Contract Description of Project or Company/Organization: Calian is pleased to be a part of Canada's healthcare industry. Through our Health Service Support Contract with the Department of National Defence, Calian's healthcare professionals work in partnership with military healthcare teams providing primary care to today's Canadian Forces. Job Description: The Nurse Practitioner - Extended Class provides quality primary health care services to CF members posted to 22 Wing North Bay in accordance with the scope of practice for Registered Nurses in the Extended Class. The Registered Nurse - Extended Class works in collaboration with the Clinic Physician / Medical Officer and the Senior Nursing Officer to ensure the most appropriate and timely care for members of the 22 Wing, North Bay. Leadership: - Supports an organizational culture that fosters excellence in the provision of care and multi-disciplinary teamwork. - Day to day collaboration with the Senior Nursing Officer and Wing Surgeon. Act as a role model/mentor for clinical staff and guides/coaches them in the accomplishment of their tasks. - Collaborates with the Clinical Coordinator in the resolution of clinical and/or administrative issues within the Clinic. - Consults with the Unit Physician / Medical Officer where situations arise beyond their scope of practice. Program Development, Delivery and Monitoring: - Participates in care coordination meetings and case coordination meetings, as required. - Is an active member of the Clinic's Urgent Care Team when scheduled. - Participates in continuing education and training initiatives at the Center, including mentoring team members. - Completes medical documentation. - Participates in the Centre's Continuous Quality Improvement program, promoting and supporting the program within the clinic. - Interacts with National Practice Leaders to promote consistency and best practices throughout the CF Primary Care Services. - Participates in research and implementation of evidence-based practice. - Shares in the on-call duty roster. - Is an active member of the clinic's Urgent Care Team, as required. - Practices in accordance with the CF Spectrum of Care, the CF Drug Benefit List, and the CF Code of Ethics. - Completes medical documentation and required administrative duties. - Participates in the Clinic's Continuous Quality Improvement program, promoting and supporting the program. - Maintains understanding and awareness of military deployability status of the Military Members and the impact of the population's health on operations. - Interacts with the National Practice Leaders to promote consistency and best practices throughout the CF Primary Care Services. Resource Management: - Participates in the maintenance of a healthy and safe work environment in accordance with the facility's safety program. - Participates in workload measurement and utilization management. Organizational Management: - Collaborates in the overall management of the clinic by participating in team meetings, committees, and work groups as required. - Tracking and trending outcome data in collaboration with the Clinic Coordinator. - Promotes communication within the Clinic to develop a collaborative multi-disciplinary care team. - Participates in care coordination meetings and case coordination meetings, as required. - Promotes communication within the unit to develop a collaborative multi-disciplinary care team. - Participates in the research, development and evaluation of policies, protocols and procedures to improve client care. Mandatory Qualifications: - Baccalaureate in Nursing - Completion of an accredited educational program for Nurse Practitioners in Primary Health Care. - Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario. - Knowledge of the college's standards of practice for RNs in the Extended Class. - Knowledge of Primary Health Care. - They must be able to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team. - Computer skills, preferably in a Microsoft Office environment. - Excellent interpersonal skills; and client service orientation. - Knowledge of: o The college's standards of practice; o Primary Health Care; o Relevant Canadian Forces policies; - Advanced knowledge in assessment, diagnosis, and health care management. - Experience in a variety of health care settings, working independently to full scope of practice and experience in counselling and patient teaching. - Current CPR and BCLS Education Requirements: - Must hold a valid nurse practitioner's license with extended class (EC) from any province in Canada, and be eligible to be licensed at the extended class level in the province of practice.
