Prince
George, British Columbia
Description:
The University of Northern British Columbia,
Nursing Program is seeking to recruit for the above
position with responsibilities at both our Quesnel
and Prince George campuses.
The Nursing Program offers an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree (BScN) in collaboration with the College of New Caledonia (Prince George and Quesnel) and the Northwest Community College in Terrace. The Nursing Program also offers a Master of Science Nursing (MScN) in two streams. One is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) - a clinical Masters degree leading to registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia as an FNP and is delivered mainly through the World Wide Web. UNBC also offers a generic Masters degree in Nursing (MScN), by course work and research thesis. Successful applicants for the Nursing Teaching Associate (NTA) positions are likely to be Registered Nurses who have completed a recognized BScN and have a minimum of five years clinical nursing experience. Applicants with a range of clinical nursing experience and an interest or experience in clinical teaching are especially encouraged to apply. The Nursing Program is particularly seeking RNs who have current clinical experience in one or more of the following areas of nursing: gerontology, acute adult, emergency room, paediatrics, maternity, mental health, and community/public health. RNs who have a demonstrated track record of completing postgraduate education courses and who have worked in rural practice are sought. If you are selected for a NTA position you will be assisted to commence a Masters of Nursing or other suitable education qualification to prepare you for a successful academic career path. You must be able to work collaboratively with faculty and students and health service agencies taking our students. A high level of communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Your responsibilities will include: instruction of student learning in classroom and clinical venues, demonstration and supervision of nursing procedures and learning in the Nursing Skills Laboratory, small group teaching/tutorials, seminars/workshops, development of new teaching resources (both classroom and Blackboard) and participation in faculty curriculum and course improvement working groups. The candidate selected for this position will also assist with coordination of the Nursing Skills Laboratories in Quesnel and Prince George. Because travel by road and air to regional campuses and rural/remote areas will be required, a valid BC driver's license is required. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. The University of Northern British Columbia is committed to employment equity and encourages applications from women, aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities and members of visible minorities. Applications received on or before April 4, 2008 will receive full consideration; however applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
