Description: This position is included in the Nunavut Employee's Union and has a starting salary of $73,398.00 per annum plus a Northern Allowance of $15,475.00 per annum.

Are you looking to make a difference in the field of Social Work? This supervisory position is vital to the community of Pangnirtung for the delivery of social service programs to residents. As a senior level practitioner, the incumbent will manage programs and supervise staff, all in an independent manner under minimal supervision. The incumbent will supervise staff in other Baffin communities and may also be required to travel to other Baffin communities.

Reflective of the seniority of the position, you should have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work with 3 years of related experience which includes supervisory experience and at least 1 year of child protection experience or a Master's Degree with a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience and child protection experience. The ability to work in a team environment with cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity is required. Supervisory experience, including assisting, assessing, interviewing, counseling and facilitating are required and should be augmented with excellent written and oral communication skills. You should also be familiar with computer and word processing programs and have proven program and evaluation skills. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.

Equivalencies that consist of a combination of education, knowledge, skills and abilities to formal education and experience requirements will be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to submit a satisfactory Criminal Records Check through the RCMP.

Note:
An eligibility list will be established and maintained for 6 months for any supervisor, social work programs throughout Nunavut.
