Serves as a liaison between nursing units, procedural areas, Emergency Services, physician offices, and other facilities. Balances requests for patient placement with available resources. Manages data as related to patient placement and patient scheduling. Performs utilization management functions as required by facility. This position is responsible for validating that necessary patient insurance information has been obtained. Balances daily staffing needs with available resources. Manages data as related to staffing, scheduling, time and attendance, and licensure. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalency required, Associate Degree preferred. Requires general office experience which includes customer service oriented telephone skills. Personal computer experience is mandatory. Familiarity with spreadsheets, word processing, and database use is required. The ability to make basic mathematical computations, use of a calculator, and keyboard skills are required. Requires ability to function in stressful situations, utilize critical thinking, and has the ability to function independently. One year prior hospital or clerical experience is required, previous experience in patient services/admitting preferred. Proficiency with medical terminology is required. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are required to effectively interface with all levels of hospital staff, physicians, and outside agencies. Effective organizational skills are required to establish priorities in an ever-changing environment. Ability to work under time constraints while coordinating a variety of projects. Experience in statistical data collection and Patient Placement is highly desirable.
