Youth Addictions Consultant
Regular Full-time - Mental Health/Provincial Youth Concurrent Disorders Program

In collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team (psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, psychologist and research staff), you will provide clinical, research, program development and networking support for the Provincial Youth Concurrent Disorders Program. Working with a specific target group of youth (age 12 - 24 yrs.) with mental health and substance use problems, you will be a key member of the team and participate in the development of best practice strategies and research projects to develop evidence-based practice. This position is part of the development of a provincial network, and includes convening and/or supporting cross-sectoral initiatives that address priority issues in relation to treatment plans, service delivery and service coordination. You will initiate and coordinate communication, networking activities and knowledge exchange between and within Health Authorities and other agencies such as RCMP, police, and schools with a view to enhancing provincial capacity.

You possess a Master's Degree or PhD preparation in Social Work, Psychology or a related allied health discipline plus 3 years recent related experience in youth addiction treatment including addiction medicine and co morbid mental health conditions. Recent experience in providing direct clinical services to substance using youth utilizing both office based and outreach models of intervention is a must and you should have substantial experience with program development, teaching and networking. A demonstrated equivalency of education and experience will be considered. Central to your success will be your ability to initiate and coordinate communication, network activities and knowledge exchange across agencies, in the development of a provincial network. You must demonstrate current knowledge in addiction medicine, youth specific addiction issues, concurrent disorders treatment, and harm reduction principles. Exceptional organizational, communications, and relationship building skills will allow you to work collaboratively and deliver sold educational presentations to the public and professional groups.
