At BC Children's Hospital we believe that childhood should be a time when children and their families can be carefree and as active as possible. That is where you come in! Reporting to the Administrative Manager, Cardiac Sciences and Director, Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology Lab, you will perform the supervisory duties involved in the day-to-day operation of the Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology Lab including clinical supervision of staff, instructing staff, students and physicians in pediatric electrophysiology, and performing electrocardiograms and related cardiology diagnostic testing procedures such as cardiopulmonary exercise testing and cardiac pacing. You will also organize, direct and monitor the activities of the pacemaker service and manage patients who have or will need pacemaker systems. This role involves the provision of support and education to patients and family members, and acting as a resource for other caregivers. As a graduate from a recognized program in Cardiology Technology, you have advanced certification and registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists and three years recent related experience, including one year of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Completion of Examination of Special Competency in Cardiac Pacing and Cardioversion Defibrillation for the Associated Professionals, or related experience in cardiac pacing, is a must together with current CPR certification. Able to supervise the work of other professionals, you thrive in a role where your technology skills and communications abilities are equally utilized. This role also demands a high degree of organizational skills, and facility with managing the needs of patients as well as their families.
