Hours: 10 x 7.75 hour shifts in a 2-week shift cycle (Nights, for information purposes only)

DUTIES:

Reporting to the Regional Manager, Crisis/Outreach Services, the incumbent will provide crisis intervention and outreach stabilization services to residents of the Capital Health Region. The incumbent will assess the nature and severity of the crisis, plan and implement interventions to stabilize the situation. These interventions will occur in and out of the four acute Emergency Departments. The outreach component provides short-term stabilization when clients are experiencing a mental health crisis and/or when they require more intensive short-term monitoring. Outreach stabilization activities may include the monitoring of a client`s mental status and medication, assisting clients in making connections to community agencies, physicians and social services and facilitating appropriate involvement in post crisis treatment services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters Degree in Social Work or Psychology, or a B.Sc. Degree in Nursing, or be a RPN and/or RN. Experience in the mental health field is essential, preferably in a community setting. Strong crisis intervention, assessment and case management skills are necessary as well as strong understanding of community resources. You must be able to work autonomously as well as part of an interdisciplinary team. Current registration with the appropriate professional college or association, current CPR (Health Care Provider, Level C), a valid drivers license and your own transportation are required. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment record and references.
