Overview:

Banner Desert Medical Center is a busy (95,000 visits per year) Level II Trauma ED serving the emergency care needs of East Valley residents. Featuring board-certified emergency physicians, specialty-trained nurses and support staff, Banner Desert's Emergency department is well-equipped to diagnose and treat a patient's specific injury or illness. In fact, we treat more emergencies than any other hospital in Arizona. Our staff is committed to treating patient's medical conditions thoroughly and efficiently and always with Banner's mission in mind - to provide safe, excellent patient care.

At Banner Desert, we recognize that emergencies are not planned and are often stressful situations. That's why we're working to make sure a patient's visit goes as smoothly as possible. We're working to improve the design of our Emergency department as well as our processes in order to ensure that patients are seen by a physician and receive care as quickly as possible.

Banner Children's Hospital at Banner Desert Medical Center provides emergency care to pediatric patients. We recognize that children are not small adults and that they require specialized care. That's why we have a dedicated Pediatric Emergency department that is staffed by board-certified pediatric emergency physicians.

Communication plays a key role in a patient's successful course of treatment in the Emergency department. Language and interpretive services are available at all Banner facilities.

Responsibilities:

Plans and provides clinical support to patients and staff; in addition provides clinical leadership, financial and personnel management within the department. Supervises employees, and participates in selection, orientation, counseling and evaluation of staff. In addition, participates in quality improvement processes in the department. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to organize and provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in assigned unit.

Qualifications:

A current or temporary Arizona or other compact state RN licensure (or the ability to obtain one) is required. Bachelor's Degree in healthcare is preferred, or equivalent related experience. Demonstrated leadership ability and at least three years of clinical experience relevant to the patient population and scope of care of the department is required. The ability to build and maintain effective communication and working relationships with staff, physicians, patients and their families is required. Prior team leader experience in fast-paced environment is required.

Clinical Manager title equivalent to Charge Nurse, Shift Manager, etc.
