Patient Record Abstractor

In this position, you will provide assistance with the status of cancer patients for cancer registry reporting requirements, case identification and clerical support to the Health System's Registries. You will also review pathology, cytology and diagnostic indexes for patients diagnosed and/or treated with Cancer, utilize hospital computer systems for follow ups and to generate computerized follow up letters, and enter updated treatment, recurrence, vital status and other clinical data elements into the Cancer Database.

Basic knowledge of the California Cancer Registry and SEER reporting requirements is required, as is working knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, physiology and disease processes. Knowledge of the ICD-0 coding classification scheme, or other diagnostic coding scheme such as ICD-9 or ICD-10 is also required.
