Meaningful Work Experience: Leave behind traditional lower 48 practice and come gain a large, dedicated multidisciplinary medical staff who feel privileged to live in and care for a native Alaskan community rich in tradition and culture. Share the excitement and challenges of providing care to 30,000 people in 48 villages scattered throughout a region similar in size to the state of Oregon. Provide assistance to village health aides, sub-regional clinic mid-levels, and aero-medical teams extend health care to remote communities. The Community - A Vast Wilderness Experience: Within just a few minutes from the city of Bethel, you can experience a solitude that you will not find in very many locations in the US. Nature abounds, fishing and hunting is plentiful, and if you wish to leave your house on a dog sled, just step out of your front door and GO! Eligibility for Loan Repayment up to $20,000.00 per Year: This region is designated an underserved region and the Indian Health Services (IHS) has loan repayment programs available. Loan repayment is not guaranteed with offer of employment, as all employees must apply directly through Indian Health Services. Please check website: for more information. Benefits & Compensation: Benefits are excellent with extremely low co-pays for full health insurance. A single person pays just $50 bi-weekly; employee +1 pays $100 bi-weekly; and a family $150 bi-weekly. Full-Time employee benefits include: • PTO (paid time off) of 4.5 weeks per year for the 1st three years, 5.5 weeks for the next three years and 7.5 weeks after 6 years of continuous employment. • $5,000.00 and 10 days are available for CME/CE. • Tort Claims (no tail) malpractice coverage • 10 Holidays per year • You manage the Care General Clinical Practice Description: Full spectrum, hospital based regional health care system with 50 beds, Level IV Trauma Center; routine and surgical OB; family practice, pediatric and specialty clinics, as well as dental, optometry, physical therapy providers. Regional medical care is supported by full spectrum lab services, 24-hour tele-radiology, telemedicine, specialty consultations and medevac services. Responsibilities: The Physician Assistant,(PA) shall be committed to contributing to the mission of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC: Working Together to Achieve Excellent Health.) Minimum Experience: Should have experience with reading radiographs and dispensing medication. License, Certification, Registration: Must have Alaska License and DEA license. Equipment/Tools/Word-Aids: Must have the computer skills needed to access computerized medical records. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Needs the skills and knowledge to practice medicine in the area of their specialty. Supervisory Responsibilities: Ability to supervise and mentor PA students and oversee Community Health Aide clinical practice.
