The Education Coordinator exemplifies professional nursing practice through expert clinical practice, education, consultation, and research. The Education Coordinator provides clinical orientation, in-service, role modeling, continuing education, and professional development opportunities to nursing staff and students. The Education Coordinator provides consultation and education to students, nurses and other health care providers. The Education Coordinator participates in design, implementation, and evaluation of new programs and systems and fosters utilization and conduct of clinical research. The Education Coordinator is a registered nurse and delegates duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery at SMC. Qualifications A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current Colorado Registered Nurse License, Current BLS Certification. B. Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Master of Science in Nursing preferred. C. Experience: Emergency Room RN experience required. Able to articulate and demonstrate appropriate nursing theory and practice. Demonstrates the ability to plan and provide for the delivery of educational services related to nursing. A minimum of 3 years of clinical practice. Emergency nursing experience required. D. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrates good organizational skills. Plans and provides for educational in-services for nursing and non-nursing. Demonstrates knowledge and competence in working with teams. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers. Ability to teach and mentor in an effective manner. III. Degree of Supervision Required: Under minimal supervision of Director. Individual proceeds under his/her own initiative in compliance with policies, procedures and practices presented by immediate supervisor. IV. Orientation Period: Minimum of two weeks contingent upon experience. Extensive orientation may be required and will be determined by Departmental Director.
