Description: The neuroscience critical care nurse practitioner is responsible for working in collaboration with physicians, nurses and administrators to develop all aspects of the neuroscience critical care unit.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) exemplifies professional nursing practice through expert clinical practice, education, consultation, research, and management activities. The CNS provides clinical orientation, inservice, role modeling, continuing education, and professional development opportunities to nursing staff of target units. The CNS provides consultation and education to students, nurses and other health care providers. The clinical Specialist participates in design, implementation, and evaluation of new programs and systems and fosters utilization and conduct of clinical research. The CNS is a registered nurse and delegates duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery at SMC.


Qualifications
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Current Colorado Registered Nurse License, Current BLS Certification.
B. Education:
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, Masters prepared.
C. Experience:
Able to articulate and demonstrate appropriate nursing theory and practice. Experience
requirements are specific to positions and departments as appropriate.
D. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrates good organizational skills. Provides safe and appropriate patient care within the Standards of Nursing Practice at SMC. Displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers.
