Minimum Skills/Requirements
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Hospital Pharmacy or Pharm.D. with Masters degree preferred. New Mexico License required. Three to five years management experience in inpatient/ambulatory setting. Primary Job Functions • Ensures the delivery of quality pharmacy services for inpatients, outpatients, and employees. • Directs, coordinates, and supervises all activities in the pharmacy including purchasing, receiving, storing, compounding, and dispensing of medications. • Selects, trains, orients and assigns department staff (either directly or through supervisor). Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates/makes recommendations for personnel actions. • Assists in development and implementation of PHS Pharmacy goals and objectives. Establishes and implements policies and procedures for department operation. • Communicates key operational issues and status of department with staff and external customers as appropriate. • Develops and recommends department operating budget. Monitors expenses and works toward keeping expenses within established budget. • Assures compliance with federal and state legal requirements as well as JCAHO and professional standards of practice. Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepares periodic reports for upper management as required. • Maintains department facilities, equipment and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort and safety of patients and staff. • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in pharmacy practice. • Performs other functions as required.
