Primary Job Functions

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

Plans and implements physical therapy program for each patient including therapeutic exercise, modalities, neuromuscular re-education, orthotics/prosthetics, applying ergonomic principles, wound care functional daily living tasks, positioning of patients, wheelchair assessment, assistive devices.

Applies diagnostic and prognostic muscles, nerve, joint and functional ability tests.

Provides instructions in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient/family/caregiver.

Adapts conventional physical therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily carry out a regimen of therapeutic exercises.

Conducts or participates in training medical and nursing personnel in physical therapy techniques and objectives, as well as, vendors and community.

Evaluates, records, and reports on patients' progress for review by other members of the rehabilitative team.

Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings. Maintains CPR certification. Supports values and philosophies of the facility.

Attends meetings as required.
