EMR WORKFLOW PROCESS SPECIALIST
The electronic medical record (EMR) industry is one of the most exciting and innovative sectors in Healthcare Informatics today. EMR systems have the potential to fundamentally change the way healthcare is provided and improve the quality of patient care. It is this promise of better care that has encouraged the federal government to promote usage of these systems. President George W. Bush, in a recent public address, made the following comments: Within 10 years, every American must have a personal electronic medical record. That's a good goal for the country to achieve. The federal government has got to take the lead in order to make this happen, by developing what's called 'technical standards.' When we combine this presidential mandate with the fact that only a small portion of hospitals in the US currently have EMRs, we should expect nothing less than a revolution in the way EMRs are implemented across the country. We believe the work we do at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is at the spearhead of this revolution. Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is utilizing an Electronic Medical Record (Longitudinal Medical Record, or LMR) in its ambulatory practices. Lead the analyses to assess efficiencies and inefficiencies of existing workflows 3.
