Summary: Under general supervision, directs and coordinates the daily activities and personnel of the Performance Improvement Department. Participates as a member of the Leadership Council. Coordinates Performance Improvement activities. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has supervisory responsibility. Qualifications: The following statements reflect the general duties, responsibilities and competencies considered necessary to perform the essential functions of the job and should not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements of the position. The specific job duties may be changed by the area Director or Vice President with or without prior notice based on the needs of the organization. Education and Experience: To qualify for the position a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or equivalent education and experience is required. Masters degree is preferred. Current licensure as an RN in the State of Maryland is required. Board certification in the field of Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred. A minimum of five years experience in PI in an acute hospital setting with one year in a supervisory role is strongly preferred. Skills and Abilities: • Ability to make independent decisions regarding professional, technical and liability areas required. • Ability to identify problems, prioritize and develop course of follow through to resolution required. • Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards, Clinical Guidelines and regulatory requirements is required. • The ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of all patient, health system and departmental documents is required. Ceritifcates, Licenses and Registration: Current RN license in the State of Maryland required. Board Certification in the field of Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
