Director, Risk Management

Your expertise is required to direct, implement, monitor and administer all aspects of our risk management programs. You will focus on minimizing loss and other detrimental effects to our organization, patients, visitors, staff and affiliates, and protecting our reputation and assets. This role involves conducting and co-ordinating risk management educational programs, as well as managing and analyzing risk management data. You will also act as a liaison with insurance agencies and defence legal counsel, to manage claims.

Qualifications:
-Baccalaureate degree in a clinical health discipline
-Master's degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Health Care Administration or equivalent
-10 years of varied, broad clinical and management experience, of which 5 years must be in an acute care clinical environment
-Minimum of 1 year of experience at a managerial level (or equivalent) or higher
-Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality management and/or risk management (latter preferred)
-Project management experience
-Member of Ontario Healthcare Risk Management Network (OHRMN), American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) and a relevant professional college
-Excellent communication (verbal and written) and listening skills
-Analytical ability to provide root-cause analysis
-Proficient use of Microsoft Office and/or similar applications
-Demonstrated skills in report writing and statistical and trend analysis
-Excellent group facilitation skills
-Proven leadership, decision-making and organizational skills
-Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and improvement principles and tools
-Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
-Ability to introduce and effectively facilitate change
-Ability to maintain and strengthen external relationships with legal advisors, insures, police, etc.
-Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to efficiently communicate within a multidisciplinary environment
-Certified Health Executive designation and risk management certification are preferred
