Description:
Incumbent will support the Defense and Veterans
Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) at the Walter Reed Army
Medical Center in Washington D.C.
DVBIC is a program of The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine. Provides patient care in a clinical setting under the direction of a licensed physician. Performs screening for concussion in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Care for patients with concussions to include history, physical examinations, treatments, and patient education. Participates in paperwork collection for research. Assists licensed physicians in providing patient care including: screening, evaluating brain injury patients both inpatient and outpatient. Performs history, physical examinations and treatment and screenings on participating patients and maintains record of results. Completes research paperwork and consents patients for protocol. Provides education to patients and families regarding concussion and brain injury. Attends multi-disciplinary meetings regarding brain injury care of the patient. Participates on committees and in special projects as needed. Must have thorough knowledge of health care and patient care; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain accurate and complete files on patients; ability to perform complex patient care procedures.
