St. Paul's Hospital is an acute-care, academic and research hospital, known for its world-class medical and surgical programs, and its long-standing history of caring for the disadvantaged.

BC Transplant, affiliated with UBC and an Agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), is the Agency responsible for meeting the needs of all transplant patients in BC. It is the only Agency in North America that combines the responsibility for organ recovery and transplantation within one program. Together with the James Hogg iCAPTURE Centre (a UBC Research Centre), we are continually striving to make a difference through strategic research and educational programs.

Medical Director, Heart Transplantation

A unique and prestigious opportunity exists for a dedicated specialist in cardiac transplant medicine to provide leadership as the Medical Director, Heart Transplantation for BC Transplant and the University of British Columbia within the Division of Cardiology situated at St. Paul's Hospital. As an acknowledged expert in cardiac transplantation/heart failure, you have extensive experience within the field and an FRCPC or equivalent in Cardiology. Your analytic and leadership skills will allow you to apply your specialized knowledge to the successful functioning of all non-surgical aspects of the Heart Transplant Program, while using your lead-by-example approach to strengthen an effective, cross-functional team. This crucial mandate will see you develop best-practice protocols for patient management, coordinate care in the outpatient clinic, develop key stakeholder partnerships, and evolve program and patient care quality. The ideal candidate's profile includes an enviable track record of dedication to excellence and prior accomplishments furthering the field of heart transplantation through innovative planning, strategic care, or program leadership.

As an experienced clinician-researcher, your commitment to developing and supporting research in the field of heart transplantation or heart failure will make you an integral member of the cardiovascular research community at UBC. The provincial leadership role of our heart transplant/heart failure programs provides unprecedented opportunities to design and lead clinical research provincially and beyond. Candidates with a foundation and interest in basic or translational research will benefit from the extraordinary opportunity to join the internationally renowned multi-disciplinary iCAPTURE Centre as a Principal Investigator.

This position will allow you to leverage your expertise, while raising the standard of excellence for heart transplantation and related research.
