Position Profile In conjunction with the manager of safety and security serves as an 'internal consultant' to Operations on safety-related matters. Develops and maintains systems and programs to assure a comprehensive Workplace Safety and Environment of Care management program. Serves as staff resource to appropriate committees for environmental and occupational safety and to SMHLJ Safety Committee. Integrates and coordinates all efforts with other organizational staff resources, including, but not limited to: Facilities, Human Resources-Workers Comp, Employee Health and Infection Control. Educates staff on safe working practices and safety-related issues. Ensures policies, procedures and activities are in place to comply with review and regulatory agencies. Demonstrates ability to perform competencies as outlined in Quality and Systems Improvement Competency Assessment tools. Basic Qualifications (required) Possess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and present findings. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Minimum Qualifications (required) Experience with management, loss-prevention programs, CQI tools, micro-computer programs, and demonstrated experience with statistical analysis and reporting. Completion of Certified Healthcare Safety Professional training within 24 months of employment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree.
