Job Details: Medical Director (equivalent of Vice President of Medical Affairs)

Description: Excellent overseas leadership position. Exceptional compensation, extensive package of financial allowances. Lead the transformation of a major medical center to the next level, including construction of a state-of-the-art replacement hospital.

Our Firm is seeking a Medical Director (equivalent of Vice President of Medical Affairs) for the 350-bed armed forces hospital in the United Arab Emirates.
The successful candidate will possess a medical degree - MD or DO - from an accredited medical school. Two years of experience as a CMO, VP of Medical Affairs or as a Medical Director of a hospital with at least 200 beds is required. Candidates with four years of experience in a similar sized hospital as Deputy Medical Director or Assistant VP of MA will be considered. Candidates with strong academic credentials and experience in medical research or other scholarly activity is preferred. Knowledge of military medical operations is helpful but not required.

Reporting to the Hospital Commander, a physician who is a member of the UAE Armed Forces, the Medical Director will oversee the various Clinical Chiefs of the medical center, focusing on clinical and process improvement as well as patient safety. Developing strategies for the transformation of the medical center to a Joint Commission International accredited hospital will be a key responsibility. We are seeking a change agent who can work to enhance the overall quality of care through process improvement.

Our Client, a UAE-owned healthcare outsourcing and logistics firm, is preparing a competitive base compensation plan and a generous package of allowances covering housing, education, 36-days of vacation, 10 days of leave for CME and a minimum of 12 holidays. Healthcare for the physician, spouse and up to three children, is free.

Based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of UAE and the second largest city in the Emirates, the successful candidate can expect a comfortable, westernized lifestyle with access to a wide range of entertainment, sports and cultural venues. The population of Abu Dhabi is about 1.8 million. Nearly 80 percent of the population is comprised of expatriates working in healthcare, construction, education, oil and gas, and transportation industries, to name a few. The expatriates integrate seamlessly into the bustling Abu Dhabi lifestyle. Working and living in the UAE offers physicians and their families an exceptional, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with easy access to the European and Asian capitals for extended vacations or weekend family trips.
