Shift Day Job Description Phoenix Children's Hospital is the only specialty children's hospital in Arizona and it is poised to become one of the foremost pediatric hospitals in the nation. The hospital is home to the state's largest group of pediatric specialists and sub-specialists. In addition, the hospital continues to evolve its clinical practices and is working with leading local and national research partners to uncover new breakthroughs in pediatric medicine. Currently a 299 bed facility, new construction plans were unveiled in October 2006 that include the building of two new patient bed towers and expansion in bed capacity and other key programs and services over the course of the next several years. Primary Purpose: Develops and maintains the infection control program across the continuum of care at Phoenix Children's Hospital in collaboration with Infection Control Physician(s) by providing surveillance of the hospital's patients and assisting staff in ensuring care of infected patients as appropriate to ensure compliance with all applicable standards, state/federal regulations and guidelines. Work Environment: Activities are primarily performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking. Functions performed require ability to lift up to 20 pounds, bend and reach, use fine motor skills in the administration of health care related activities. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 1. Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Arizona and Bachelors of Science Nursing (BSN) with minimum of 5 years previous nursing experience; OR Bachelors in microbiology, public health epidemiology, biology or related field with 3 or more years experience in infection controland or epidemiology; OR MT (ASCP) certification as a medical technologist with at least 5 years of experience in microbiologyRequires 3 or more years of work experience in an acute care setting or health related field, such as direct patient care, clinical or laboratory research, epidemiology or infectious disease.
