Up to $84,543 annually The Minnesota Department of Human Services provides substance abuse services statewide. We are currently seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist to perform certified advanced practice professional nursing work in St. Peter, MN. We are a community-based, dual diagnosis residential program for adult men and women. We are nationally accredited by JCAHO. General Description of Duties: Under administrative direction, performs psychiatric assessment, evaluation and treatment management of mental health disorders and chemical dependency. Provides direct client care and advanced psychiatric nursing care. Assesses and evaluates clients for physical, chemical dependency and psychosocial conditions by obtaining a comprehensive health history, performing a physical exam, and ordering diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory tests and x-rays) if indicated. Interprets health data to determine client's need for nursing/medical intervention by identifying wellness issues, risk factors, variations from norms and diagnosing common diseases. Constructs and implements a nursing/medical plan of care for common acute health problems such as infections and minor injuries, psychiatric disorders and chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and depression, by prescribing treatments including medication, nutrition, exercise and common nursing/medical interventions. Provides ongoing evaluation of client's nursing/medical plan of care by evaluating objective and subjective data, determining resolution of symptoms, and changing or modifying the treatment plan as needed. Consults and collaborates with attending physician when the client's condition exceeds the nurse practitioner's scope of practice. Qualifications: • Minnesota licensure and current registration as a registered nurse. • Graduation from a program of study designed to prepare the individual for advanced practice as an Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist or Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. • Certification with a national professional nursing organization as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or as Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist. • Able to meet requirements to prescribe medications according to Minnesota Practice Act. Benefits: The state's contribution toward your insurance, retirement, and Medicare and Social Security benefits is 30 percent of your salary. Not including the cost of vacation time, holidays, sick leave, and other benefits. Employees earn 11 paid holidays per year. Health insurance is free to employees who work 3/4 time or more.
