RESPONSIBILITIES: -Counsel staff, individually or in groups, using psycho-social therapies; assesses behavior which may affect treatment planning. -Creates and adjusts treatment plans as needed. -Provides preventive mental health services and support. -Provides follow-up care and tracks progress of staff members. -Coordinates use of available mental health resources. -Gathers and analyzes data, develops findings, and makes recommendations on training plans; drafts plans or instruction. -Assists in conducting formal and informal training; evaluates and revises training which requires only minor modifications. -Possess the ability to apply conventional counseling techniques, fact-finding, analytical, and problem-solving methods. -Possess the ability to give oral presentation, perform triage, conduct preventive mental health training/intervention and briefings. -Ability and skill in preparing accurate written cases using advanced medical terminology. -Possess the ability to use computers including programs for word-processing , e-mail, calculations and spreadsheets. -Refer patients requiring farther consultation outside the scope of practice to the appropriate health care provider or community resource/class. -Provide health care evaluations, assessments, treatments, and patient education within the scope of practice in one or more of the Burn Center's areas. -Conserve the mental health of patients by application of diversified knowledge of preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic clinical techniques -Seek advice of consultants when appropriate. -Instructs and monitors other medical personnel in care and treatment of patients. -Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with hospital directives and prepare all records and reports required. Ensure all documentation is legible. -Shall perform significant administrative duties including, but not limited to, maintaining data collection of daily and monthly clinical workload through an automated system. -Maintain proper medical records on patients to whom treatment is provided in accordance with governing regulations and use of CHCS or other systems as required for keeping records as required by the MTF. -Refer patients to civilian practitioners only after providing notification to and receiving approval from the appropriate MTF staff. -Attend and participate in team conferences, professional staff conferences, and other appropriate professional activities QUALIFICATIONS: -Nurse must possess and maintain current state licensure and certification as a Registered Nurse from an accredited college or university. -Must be a graduate of a National League of Nursing accredited school of nursing and possess evidence meeting the requirements of the educational program. -Have and maintain a valid, unencumbered license as a registered nurse in at least on state within the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. -Possess and maintain current certification in basic cardiac life support (BCLS). -Possess at least 1 year of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse.
