POSITION Tryon & Heideman Executive Search has been retained by Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri (PPKM) in their search for a new Executive Vice President of Operations. The EVP will provide leadership and management for internal operations in this mission-driven, not-for-profit environment. As a member of PPKM's collaborative Executive Team, this position is responsible for implementing the business and operational objectives of the agency, with special emphasis on high quality medical care and services which allow clients to make voluntary, informed decisions about sexual and reproductive health. While maintaining an organizational structure and culture that promotes high levels of communication and performance, the EVP will manage an annual budget of $7.7M and provide vision and leadership to a staff of over 75 FTEs. PPKM has clinical operations including 10 health centers throughout Kansas and central and western Missouri and a licensed ambulatory surgery center, Comprehensive Health of PPKM. Key members of the EVP's team include the CFO, the VP of Human Resources and the Medical Director along with the Director of Clinical Services, the Director of Surgical Services and the Director of Quality and Practice Management. PPKM's offices are based in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. Reporting to the CEO, the EVP develops, implements and evaluates clinical services and programs which meet the community specific needs of the diverse communities the organization serves. In partnership with the management team, the EVP develops the organization's annual work plan and associated budget and plays a lead role in developing Board approved strategic initiatives, including geographic expansion and the innovative use of technology to increase service delivery. With appropriate staff, the EVP establishes protocols, policies and procedures, and practices to ensure that PPKM continues to meet the requirement of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), as well as appropriate government agencies. Since the CEO is frequently involved in external issues, the EVP will serve as Acting CEO in his absence. QUALIFICATIONS EVP candidates must have experience managing a multi-site, clinical services operation with specific experience managing division managers. A minimum of 8-10 years managing multiple functions at a senior level is required. Candidates will be able to demonstrate success in managing financial functions, including patient billing, as well as strong skills in human resources and organizational development. The ideal candidate will have worked in a reproductive health setting and have knowledge and a track record in family planning and women's healthcare. A Master's Degree in healthcare administration, finance is preferred. A Bachelor's Degree in business, management, administration or a healthcare related field is required. Strong leadership ability, including integrity, excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire peers and staff is a requirement to be a candidate. A track record of participating in a team management structure and leading a team to achieve financial goals is necessary. To be successful a coaching style with staff is needed. Candidates must be committed to Planned Parenthood's mission, goals and objectives, and to the highest levels of cultural competency. PPKM provides a broad range of reproductive services, education and advocacy. Medical services offered include family planning and contraception, pregnancy testing, HIV testing, treatment of sexually transmitted infections, detection of cervical and breast cancers and vaccination for Hepatitis and cervical cancer (Gardasil). Abortion services are provided by Comprehensive Health of PPKM, a licensed, ambulatory surgery center providing first and second trimester abortion and other surgical procedures. Sixty eight percent of patients receive some subsidy. No family planning patient is turned away because of inability to pay.
