Additional Critical Care/Intensivists are needed for the growing MIC Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Position includes both consultation and direct patient admissions. Great opportunity to help build a regionally recognized ICU program and work in a supportive environment. Special interest in 'Point of Care' and experience with MicroMaxx SonoSite preferred but not required. Didactic teaching required. Minimum of one publication per year.

Carilion Health System, soon to be known as Carilion Clinic, has embarked upon a journey to convert itself from a traditional healthcare system into a physician-led clinic model, much like other non-university affiliated clinics. Carilion is the largest not-for-profit health system in Virginia, with 8 hospitals, 82 physician practice sites, and 10 GME residency programs. Our General Surgery residency is free-standing and fully accredited with 3 residents per training per year.

Sophisticated resources include state-of-the-art ICU equipment in four 12-bed units, and we are expanding to 23 OR's and over 800+ acute-care beds, making Carilion Medical Center the largest hospital in Virginia. EMR for outpatient connectivity and communication to other Carilion practices.

Carilion is a major teaching affiliate of University of Virginia School of Medicine, providing for the monthly rotation of 32 third-year medical students for clerkships in family medicine, internal medicine, OB/Gyn, pediatrics, surgery, primary care ambulatory medicine, psychiatry, neurology and a variety of electives.

Carilion has recently affiliated with the Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine and is offering training to osteopathic students, interns and residents. Over 100 physicians are employed as Carilion full-time medical and surgical education faculty. One hundred and fifty residents are enrolled in Carilion's residency programs: Family Medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Transitional, Psychiatry, and Internal Medicine/Psychiatry.

Qualifications:
• ABMS/AOA-BC in Internal Medicine
• Fellowship training in Pulmonary/Critical Care
