Natchaug Hospital is the primary resource for area residents seeking behavioral health services on an inpatient, partial hospital or out patient basis. Our network consists of a 57-bed hospital, 10 partial hospitalization programs for adults, adolescents & children, special education schools, and a residential treatment center for adolescent girls. We're in easy proximity to cultural events in Boston and New York and universities in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The position, reporting to the Vice President of Hospital Operations, is responsible for managing the three inpatient units (adult, adolescent and child) and overseeing all services and programming. This position functions as the Director of Nursing Services for the facility. S/he supervises the Director of Social Work, Unit Nurse Managers, shift Nurse Supervisors and works collaboratively with the Medical Director, unit physicians and other clinical leaders towards excellence in client care. Responsibilities of the position include evaluating and developing the program to meet client needs; ensuring compliance with state, federal and Joint Commission regulations; plans and implements the inpatient budget and monitors variances; manages staffing; and implements an effective performance improvement program to measure and improve the quality of care delivered. Current initiatives include advancing the National Patient Safety Goals; design and implementation of an electronic medical record; supporting the development of a smoke/tobacco-free environment; program development based on a CBT therapy model; and implementation of Lean performance improvement. The successful candidate will be a master's level registered nurse with at least five years of clinical experience, three of which demonstrate progressive behavioral health management experience. Must possess demonstrated skills in mentoring inpatient clinical leaders and clinical supervision of all staff; be able to successfully blend strategic thinking with hands-on interaction with unit staff. S/he must possess the leadership ability to communicate a vision of high quality client care and to set expectations. The individual must have a demonstrated ability to manage an inpatient budget, including an understanding of how staffing and volume impact revenue. Lorraine M.
