Description: Perform routine outpatient medical care, medical board evaluations and minor surgical procedures; interview, examine, assess and manage patients with general medicine and surgical health problems; obtain an adequate history, physical, assessment and develop a treatment plan in a timely and appropriate manner on each patient. Perform physical exam, establish diagnosis, and prescribe treatment regimen for acute minor illness problems; prescribe and dispense medications. Initiate requests for laboratory tests and x-rays, as appropriate. Follow-up of abnormal reports is the responsibility of the ordering provider. All abnormal x-ray and lab reports received on patients seen by the contract NP shall be reviewed by the NP within 24 hours of its receipt. Make preliminary interpretation of radiographic films and perform initial interpretation of electrocardiograms. Qualifications: Nurse Practitioner shall have a Masters of Science in Nursing or a Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited program. Have and maintain board certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Commission on Accreditation (ANCC COA) Have and maintain a valid, unrestricted state license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in any state in the United States, District of Columbia or United States territory. Have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS certification. Have been employed a minimum of one year practicing as a Nurse Practitioner within the past two years.
