Manager, Medical Unit (Med/Onc) - Northwest
Medical
This Medical Unit is a 42-bed unit which serves both medical and oncology patients. Nurses on this unit receive education for providing chemotherapy and symptom management for patients with cancer as well as serving patients with medical diagnosis. Staff members are assisted in providing support for patients and families by an experienced oncology nurse case manager, and a social worker designated to care for oncology patients. Teamwork is emphasized on the unit. The staffing mix consists of a Unit Clerk, Nurse Tech's, and LPN's as well as RN's. The designated nurse patient ration is 1:5. Responsibilities: The manager is responsible for daily functional management of nursing unit programs and services and the measured results for all aspects of the unit. The manager demonstrates active support of the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Northwest Medical Center. Managers are expected to perform direct support service functions and activities as needed to achieve unit objectives. The manager participates on hospital councils and key function teams as appropriate for the unit. Education: Associate's Degree minimum, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Master's Degree preferred. Certification/Licenses: Arizona RN license. Skills: Acting with integrity, analyzing and interpreting financial data, computer literacy, gathering needed information, delegating and supporting teams, evaluating decisions/solutions, improving work process, making effective decisions. Excellent human relations and oral/written communications skills. Measuring customer service and meeting customer needs. Partnering with customers/others, promoting NMC mission, vision and values. Utilizing communication channels and valuing diversity. Experience: Five (5) years experience in the area of specialty, and two (2) years of supervisory/management experience.
