Job Details: Clinical Director of Inpatient Psychiatry

Respected hospital near NYC looking for a Clinical Director of Inpatient Psychiatry.

In this role, you will Provide medical oversight to the psychiatric inpatient service of 20 beds. Assist the Department Chair in the discharge of Departmental duties; monitor the professional activity of attending psychiatrists and house physicians to assure provision of quality care to psychiatric inpatients; oversee the provision of medical education to the physicians, residents, medical students, and physician assistant students; Provide supervision and guidance to non-physician staff on the inpatient psychiatry unit; support medical staff utilization management, clinical quality and performance improvement efforts; provide high quality, patient centered care to hospitalized psychiatric patients and assumes responsibility for the overall medical care of all psychiatric inpatients.

Job is approximately 80% clinical and 20% Administrative.
While job is mostly adults, their will be consults in the ER and Pediatric floor which makes having some experience with children and adolescents a plus. Spanish speaking skills is a plus but not required.
Currently the inpatient department is consists of one other Psychiatrist, 2 Social workers, 1 activity Therapist, 1 substance abuse counselor, Nurse Manager, Case Manager, and RN's. There are moonlighters in place therefore no on-call responsibilities. If Moonlighters are not able to work the Physician will be back-up. The hospital has a private room for Physician to sleep when backing up moonlighters.
Hospital is looking for either an experienced Director of a similar program or an up and coming Physician with good leadership qualities. Board certified is preferred but will look at candidates that are board eligible and planning to take the boards.
