Anticipated to extend until approximately January 2009, subject to the availability of work.

Location: 51 Front Street West, Strathroy, Ontario

An opportunity exists with the Strathroy Assertive Community Treatment Team for a social worker to provide comprehensive community support/rehabilitation/treatment to individuals with serious mental illness and their families/natural supports using the principles of client-centered care within the context of a multi-disciplinary team approach.

Essential Qualifications:
-Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
-Minimum 2 years related social work experience in mental health
-Demonstrated skills, knowledge of and experience delivering a full range of high quality social work services to the seriously mentally ill and their families in the context of tertiary level psychiatric hospital
-Skills in psychosocial assessment and treatment, knowledge of major mental illness, psychotropic medications and symptom management
-Good discharge planning skills and knowledge of community resources
-Must be capable of establishing effective partnerships and positive interpersonal relationships with local community resources and to develop co-operative therapeutic relationships with clients and families
-Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to function effectively within an interdisciplinary team
-Excellent organizational and communication skills
-Valid driver's license and your own vehicle for travel within catchment area
-Knowledge of relevant legislation; Mental Health Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Health Care Consent Act, Powers of Attorney
-Expertise in the following modalities: individual, marital, couple and family counselling and psychotherapy

Preferred Qualifications:
-Knowledge of Middlesex County Social and Health Services Network
-Recent and related community experience
-Knowledge of Provincial ACT standards
-Crisis intervention skills
Ability to speak Portuguese
