Associate Director, Nutrition Services
Reporting to the Director, Nutrition and Food Services, you will direct nutrition services for all units of the division and the diet office within UCSF Medical Center's Patient Food Services area. Evaluate service needs and implement, evaluate, and alter programs when needed. You will supervise dietitians (I, II, Senior, Principal), dietitian supervisors (I, II, Senior, Principal), dietetic technicians, nutrition assistants, and principal foodservice workers.

Develop and implement guidelines and standards of practice and evaluation strategies to assure that quality control, assurance and improvement, and customer satisfaction guidelines and standards are met; develop division budget, productivity measurements, and other fiscal controls; manage labor and non-labor costs within budgetary constraints and improve service without using additional resources. Ensure compliance with accreditation and licensing standards such as The Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Actively promote nutrition on other institution and organization committees (P&T, Quality Improvement, TJC preparation, patient satisfaction, Diabetes Teaching Center Advisory Board, etc). Direct any ad hoc nutrition committees appointed by the P&T Committee. Promote the role of nutrition within the organization and the university.

Requirements:
Must be a Registered Dietitian with a Master's degree in nutrition or related field from a regionally accredited university. Successful completion of an approved didactic and an accredited dietetic internship with a strong clinical component required. Maintenance of continuing education to meet Commission on Dietetic Registration requirements, and 5+ years of experience that includes 2+ years as a chief clinical dietitian or equivalent in clinical nutrition management essential.

Previous work experience in a large hospital, including substantial experience managing a defined nutrition unit, employee supervision, and problem solving in a large hospital required. Must be skilled in independent action, judgment, and decision-making where no precedent exists. Experience teaching dietetic interns or other students is a prerequisite.

Preferred:
10+ years experience in large academic medical centers or hospitals handling curriculum design and evaluation. Advanced practice credential (e.g. CDE, CNSD, CSP, etc.) recognized by the American Dietetic Association a definite advantage.
