POSITION REQUIREMENTS Under the directon of the Director/Manager or designee, this position will be responsible for the day-to day- managment of Continuous Documentation Improvement Project to include all modalities, liaison with other departments and physicians, development and implementation of clinical documentation improvement processes. This position will work in conjunction with Case Management/Utilization Review, HIM, and other health team members to provide for comprehensive medical record documentation to reflect clinical treatment, decisions, and diagnoses for inpatients. The Clinical Documentation Specialist utilizes coding and clinical expertise to identify opportunities and ensure accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation used for measuring and reporting physician and hospital outcomes. Minimum Requirements: -Bachelor of Science degree in a health-related field preferred. -Current state licensure as Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA),(RHIT), or Registered Nurse. -Current and extensive coding and DRG education/training. At least 5 years experience in an acute care environment with proven leadership, supervisory and training skills. Intermediate knowledge of computer work processing, spreadsheet and other database programs.
