BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) cares for the province's most acutely ill or injured children and youth, provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and offers a broad range of health services. Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children (SHHC), a leading provincial facility offering specialized services to children and youth with developmental disabilities from birth to age 19, works collaboratively with BCCH. SHHC focuses on the child and their family while supporting health care professionals in their community. BCCH also operates a wide number of specialized health programs, is a leading acute care teaching facility, and conducts research to advance health and care through the Child and Family Research Institute and in partnership with the University of British Columbia. Nurse Practitioner (Family) Social Pediatrics Initiative - BC Children's Hospital Regular Full-time - Vancouver, British Columbia Nurse Practitioners Reaching Out In The Community. The Social Pediatrics initiative is a new, evolving program that looks to provide barrier-free primary health care for vulnerable families with a focus on continuity of care including coordination and linking of needed services. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, this role will see you working alongside another Nurse Practitioner to have an immediate and positive impact on inner-city children/youth/women and their families as you provide comprehensive, integrated primary health care that emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention, as well as management of common health problems. In addition, you will provide important linkage of needed services within this socially complex population as you collaborate with other health professionals and Agencies to identify and assess trends and patterns that have implications for clients, families and communities. You bring NP (Family) full scope of practice which includes taking patient histories, performing assessments, ordering/interpreting tests, and performing diagnostic and therapeutic measures that allow the delivery of therapeutic care from the nurse practitioner perspective. Significantly, your ability to build professional relationships with community health agencies and other service providers while maintaining strong linkages and relationships with provincial and tertiary services at BCCH, SHHC, and BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre will ensure continuity of care, coordination and appropriateness of services. Along with educational preparation at the university level, you hold significant pediatric/youth/women-centered clinical nursing experience gained with similar populations. Experience in mental health would also be an asset. Analytical and highly organized, you can integrate a wide range of practice models and have advanced planning skills along with current registration as a Nurse Practitioner (Family) with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia. Your knowledge of developmental stages, behavioral sciences, pathophysiology, psychopathology, epidemiology, and pharmacology is coupled with excellent assessment and evaluation skills that lead to sound planning and evidence-based results.
