We are in the process of recruiting a Gynecologic Oncologist for the St. Luke's Network, a 650-bed consortium of one large and three small hospitals in Eastern Pennsylvania. We are located 60 miles north of Philadelphia and 85 miles west of New York City in the 'Lehigh Valley' (Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton areas). The urban population is 600,000 and the 25-mile service area boasts a population of 1.2 million.

The flagship hospital in Bethlehem and our Allentown hospital, located six miles away, do approximately 4,200 deliveries and over 3,500 GYN surgeries. We have 45 active gynecologists on staff who are largely dedicated to St. Luke's and a well-positioned OB/GYN Residency of 20 (five per year). Our subspecialties include four Maternal and Fetal Medicine physicians, three REI's, four Urogynecologists and a Chronic Pelvic Pain specialist. The hospital, a Top 100 performer, is very progressive and offers a very active open-heart service, a Level I Trauma program, Level III NICU, robotic surgery, and more.

In addition to the active OB/GYN residency, St. Luke's network has residencies in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Podiatry. We also have Fellowships in Trauma, Urogynecology, Pelvic Reconstruction, and Dermatology. Medical students rotate from Temple University, The University of Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

This position will include a Faculty appointment to the Section of GYN Oncology at The University of Pennsylvania and participation in clinical trials at both The University of Pennsylvania and through St. Luke's Cancer Center. Currently St. Lukes Cancer Center employs two Surgical Oncologists, one Breast Oncologist, and one Chest Oncologist. The Medical Oncologists are currently in private practice.

The most important aspect of this position is the EXCLUSIVE employment contract that is being offered. Although there are other GYN Oncologists in the area, they will be unable to serve our GYN physicians in our hospitals after the individual is in place. With virtually unanimous support (in writing) by our Department (over 30 referrers), this should guarantee success for the individual taking this position.

As expected, there is a generous compensation package, benefits, and a negotiable contractual term. A second exclusive GYN Oncologist is expected to be recruited not long after the service is established by you.
