Oakwood Healthcare System
is the second largest private employer in suburban
Detroit, MI with $2 billion annual gross revenues and
$950 million total operating revenues. With four hospitals,
38 outpatient care sites, and over 1600 physicians,
Oakwood Healthcare System serves approximately one
million patients.
The Family Medicine residency
is located at the system's 286-bed Oakwood Annapolis
Hospital and offers its residents a unique healthcare
experience in a community-based hospital with core
rotations at the system's 620-bed tertiary teaching
hospital providing residents with the 'best of both
worlds' training. The location also provides for a
functionally unopposed residency.
The program
accepts ten residents annually and is staffed with
18 faculty members with a variety of interests and
accomplishments. An affiliation with Wayne State University
and the University of Michigan provides access to a
great deal of subspecialty electives and research opportunities
often not available at a community hospital level.
It also gives residents and faculty the pleasure of
interacting with and training local medical students.
This
position requires an experienced and recognized leader
in family medicine education with demonstrated leadership
skills and with a solid track record of research and
scholarly activities.
Board certification in
Family Medicine and a minimum of five years of substantial
involvement in resident education is required.
