Job Details: PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER

Description: Excellent Opportunity!
Currently hold an active registered nurse license in NYS. Hold a Master's or higher degree in nursing from an accredited program. Certification as a nurse practitioner in designated area of practice by a national certifying organization; child/adolescent experience required. Establishes a practice agreement with a collaborating physician working in the facility. Provide evidence of prescriptive privilege accomplishment, as will as a DEA number. Provide documentation within six months of employment indicating no record of child abuse, neglect and/or maltreatment through NYS Central Register.
Required to participate with on call rotation. Please refer to job description for complete requirements.

Department: CHILD/ADOLESCENT MHU
The Unit consists of 12 private rooms and provides holistic care using the multidisciplinary approach for psychiatric patients. The mission of the CAMHU is to provide extensive evaluation and a short-term inpatient treatment experience for children and adolescents with family and community assistance. Milieu therapy is an important method of treatment on the unit. Patients are treated on an acute basis because of immediate risk of harm to self or others, and carry a DSM diagnosis.

The unit provides:
family/individual and group treatment
education to the patients' families regarding the patients mental illness and treatment recommendations i.e. medication academic services five days per week discharge planning from point of admission with the patient, family, school and community services as active participants in the treatment and discharge plans.

There are 35 FTE's on the unit. Multidisciplinary rounds are conducted twice weekly with the psychiatrists. Community Meetings, Recruitment Therapy, Relaxation Group and Social Skills groups are held daily.
Discharge Group meets weekly. Family Conference and Individual therapy is held five times per week. A General Staff Meeting is held bimonthly.
Unit Education/Inservices are held every week. Patient/Family Education Group meets weekly.

Work Hours:
* 80, Regular Full Time, 0800-1630, (80 hours per pay period).
Weekends and holidays as scheduled.
