Coding Positions Available!

Work at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, an Ambulatory facility and one of the Best Hospitals in America, as ranked by US News and World Report! We now have exciting openings for a CODING MANAGER and a CERTIFIED CODER!

The CODING MANAGER will review and supervise all coding to facilitate accurate claims and appropriate reimbursement for the Infirmary, as well as review medical records to ensure that coding and billing of these services is appropriate.

Requirements are as follows:
• Coding Certification, CCS or CPC-H, is required.
• RHIA or RHIT credentials is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years progressive coding or coding review experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT/HCPCS is required. Claims processing knowledge of data management responsibilities are a plus.
• Good oral and written communication skills and comprehensive knowledge of the OPPS reimbursement methodology and regulatory requirements.
• Prefer someone with past auditing experience or strong training background in coding and reimbursement.

The CERTIFIED CODER will have the responsibility to code hospital discharge records for the purpose of reimbursement, research, and compliance with federal and state regulations using ICD-9-CM and CPT classification systems. The successful candidate will also analyze and review records for completeness.

Requirements are as follows:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• CPT or CCS certification.
• Completion of ICD-9-CM and CPT coding course.
• Minimum of one year experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, and Physiology.

The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary was established in 1820 to meet the eye care needs of New Yorkers, especially the working poor. In keeping with its heritage, today's Infirmary, a member of Continuum Health Partners, Inc., is a voluntary, not-for-profit specialty hospital providing comprehensive outpatient and state-of-the-art medical/surgical care in the disciplines of Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology/ Head & Neck Surgery, and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.

The Infirmary's outpatient ophthalmology and otolaryngology programs provide primary care and treatment in those specialties for the five boroughs of New York City, with concentrations in the institution's historic Lower East Side patient base, Brooklyn and Queens. The Infirmary also serves the regional, national and international communities with unique tertiary medical/surgical specialty services in our fields of expertise.
