Population Health Surveillance & Disease Control Planning The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) plans, manages and evaluates selected specialty and province-wide health care services across BC, working with the five geographic health authorities to deliver province-wide solutions that improve the health of British Columbians. Reporting to the Executive Director, Population Health Surveillance and Disease Control Planning, you will lead the design, implementation, research, and evaluation efforts of chronic disease population and public health surveillance in order to inform prevention population and public health initiatives in BC. You will work with data analysts, statisticians, epidemiologists, researchers and the Executive Director on a regular basis to provide and gather information as well as coordinate health research initiatives. This role operates in a complex multi-site health system, government and academic environment to ensure targeted population and public health (PPH) initiatives for chronic disease prevention and improved health. Along with a PhD in epidemiology, you have five years' experience in public/population health, with significant responsibility for chronic disease surveillance and/or chronic disease research and evaluation. Your broad knowledge of health systems is supplemented by in-depth knowledge of the epidemiologic analysis methodology used in surveillance survey design and planning, and statistical methods of analysis including disease mapping and analysis. Demonstrated ability and experience in designing, implementing and conducting chronic disease surveillance, research and evaluation studies including data collection procedures and database management, is a must together with the ability to analyze, interpret, and report on your findings. You should be familiar with strategies for data modeling, spatial epidemiology in health informatics and the use of Geographical Information Systems in the study of health and disease.
