Provincial Blood Coordinating Office Vancouver, British Columbia The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) plans, manages and evaluates selected specialty and province-wide health care services across BC, working with the five geographic health authorities to deliver province-wide solutions that improve the health of British Columbians. Reporting to the Manager, Utilization Management and working in collaboration with other members of the utilization management team, you will provide transfusion medicine clinical support to BC hospitals and internal staff by coordinating, developing, implementing and maintaining PBCO utilization management projects and programs. Specifically, you will facilitate and support the development of clinical guidelines, educational materials and tools as you build strong and effective relationships with transfusion medicine personnel, relevant health authorities and other clinicians across BC to secure access to resources, provide expertise and exchange information. Key accountabilities include: • Providing transfusion medicine clinical support to BC hospitals and internal staff by coordinating, developing, implementing and maintaining various aspects of the PBCO utilization management projects and programs. • Organizing and chairing forums, resource groups, meetings and teleconferences with stakeholders as needed. • Providing literature search and review and coordinating the development and dissemination of newly developed guidelines and other evidence-based materials to clinicians for specific utilization management projects and programs. • Developing, implementing and maintaining clinical tools and education resources for physicians and care providers. • Providing day-to-day on-site utilization management clinical support, education and training to BC hospitals, clinicians and PBCO staff as required. • Monitoring and evaluating the operation of blood utilization management projects and programs through such means as data collection and analysis, stakeholder surveys and operational reviews. • Establishing linkages with other health authorities and clinicians across BC to facilitate appropriate blood utilization management and to share information and identify opportunities for collaboration and cost-efficiencies. • Participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of research projects, including development of the research protocol, application for ethics approval if required, literature search and review, data collection and analysis, evaluation of results, and presentation of research findings. You bring a level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelors Degree in Nursing or related field, plus five years of recent related clinical nursing experience. Experience with clinical research and/or clinical education and/or in transfusion medicine as well as Registration or membership with a professional organization would be an asset. Your strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships are supported by solid organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrated computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Outlook, Explorer) will be expected.
