Job Details: Psychologist

Company: Lapeer Regional Medical Center – Lapeer Regional Medical Center, a McLaren Health Service, is a 222-bed acute care facility that is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Description: Provides assessment, interpretation, treatment planning, treatment, and referral of adults, adolescents, and children experiencing psychological disorders.
Provides family therapy, individual psychotherapy, and group psychotherapy. Functions as member of treatment team.
Responsible for clinical certificates and involuntary evaluations in the mental health unit and medical units.

Attend court hearings to testify, provide guardianship evaluations and related recommendations.
Provide consults on medical units for psychosocial evaluations and interventions, along with recommendations for further treatment (inpt and outpt).
Provide staff training and public speaking.
Conducts individual psychotherapy with adults and older adults.
Conducts psychological testing and evaluation.
Conducts initial assessment of biopsychosocial functioning of client at time of admission to determine the need for the level of care to be provided and the need for further assessment or consultations.
Integrates the history of the disorder/illness and the biopsychosocial needs assessment into an interpretive assessment summary.
Develops and implements an individual plan of service (treatment plan).
Accurately documents client's response to treatment services provided, reassessment of client at time of progress note, and justification for continued stay.
Completes authorization process with managed care organizations and other third party payors.
Provides guidance and direction to staff members and student interns.
Interacts with community (schools, court agencies, etc.) regarding patient care and treatment planning.
Attends meetings as scheduled.

Requirements
Required Education
- Ph.D. in Psychology
- Active State of Michigan full license to practice Psychology or limited licensed with full license within 6 months of hire
- Minimum 2 years previous experience in field of psychology

Preferred Qualifications
- 2-3 years previous experience as licensed Psychologist
- Previous work experience in inpatient setting
- Previous work experience in outpatient program development
- Previous teaching experience
- Previous experience interacting with community members, media, agencies, etc.

Position Specific Expectations
1. Deals with highly confidential patient information.

2. Services may be requested from physicians for patients on units other than the Mental Health Unit.

3. Participates in Hospital and/or departmental quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities as directed; through identification of quality improvement opportunities, goal setting, collection and evaluation of data, implementation of action plans, or related applications.

4. Demonstrates the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities in age-specific categories being served: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, including the ability to perform CPR.

5. Access to Protected Health Information in any format, whether oral, written, or through Electronic Information Systems will be in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and subject to disciplinary action when misused. Access to electronic information systems for this position is based on criteria found n a pre-determined systems access matrix for classification specific job function, found in HR Policy #580, "Using, Disclosing, and Requesting Only the Minimum Amount of Protected Health Information Necessary".
