The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible
to the Charge Therapist, Clinical Services Coordinator,
Department Manager and Department Director.
Job Details: - Graduate of an accredited school of respiratory care General Summary: The Certified Respiratory Therapist, (CRT) delivers care to patients under the direction/delegation of the physician. Must be able to perform satisfactorily the specific competencies as outlined by the department. Must effectively interact with patients, families, physicians and other health team members while maintaining standards of Respiratory care practice and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Reports pertinent observations, interventions, and patient responses to the Registered Nurse and/or physician. Demonstrates sound judgement regarding observations, findings and concerns. Must contribute to the achievement of the Dash Board measurements as well as patient, customer, and employee satisfaction.The Certified Respiratory Therapist Provides comprehensive respiratory care based on the department policies and procedures and in accordance and in accordance with the Florida Respiratory Care Practice Act. The Certified Respiratory Therapist demonstrates a commitment to excellence so that the highest standards of care, safety and best patient experience are achieved.The Certified Respiratory Therapist demonstrates skills in organizing and integrating the work of the team and promoting collaborative efforts to achieve desired patient care goals. The Certified Respiratory Therapist is accountable for seeking, maintaining and increasing knowledge and skills which impact the performance of self and others, including mandated education (such as HIPAA, etc), inservices, department meetings (minimum of 75%), formal education, leadership skills, etc., as well as hospital and department policies, procedures, protocols. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge And Skills: * Required: Must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function; satisfactorily demonstrates required competencies in the care of patients, including age-specific competencies; read, listen and perform physician orders; accurately calculate medication dosages; use effective verbal and written communication skills; practice safe critical thinking skills and make appropriate judgements/decisions re: patient care. Education: * Required: Graduate of an accredit school of Respiratory Care Experience: *Required: None required if normally scheduled to work at least 40 hours per pay period. (If STEP or PTD and normally scheduled to work less than 40 hours per pay period, must have minimum of one (1) year full time experience in acute care hospital.) Must be knowledgeable of the respiratory care procedures and their application to patient care and present an attitude interested in learning.
