Job Details: Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon

Company: HCA - The Healthcare Company – Founded by physicians for physicians, HCA offers the finest facilities in America. Eleven of its hospitals are in the top 100!

Description: Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon needed for a private group practice in a Tort Reform State!
Rapides Regional Medical Center is actively seeking a BC/BE Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon to join a very successful group practice with two others. This progressive, cutting edge practice has the 2nd largest volume in the State of Louisiana! Call will be shared equally, 1:3. All applicants must be trained or experienced in doing endovascular stents and valve surgery. The practice admits to two facilities in the community with offices located approximately 15 minutes from each. They have a Vascular Diagnostic Lab and Vein Clinic on site. In addition to a competitive income package, they are offering partnership opportunity as well. The patient base is approximately 450,000, and growing, making this an exceptionally stable, lucrative and long term opportunity. Our 312-bed facility includes The Rapides Heart Center, strategically located with access readily available to emergency helicopter, ambulance transport, emergency department, surgery, intensive care and telemetry units.

We practice a comprehensive approach to treating heart disease through diagnostic testing, cardiac catherization, heart surgery and cardiac rehabilitation. The economic forecast of the hospital is great with a new 50 million dollar expansion which was completed this year. Louisiana is a Tort Reform State (capped malpractice claims), which makes this a very physician friendly practice opportunity. Benefits of the opportunity include no capitated insurance contracts, little managed care intrusion, large medical society, safe neighborhoods with housing styles ranging from eighteenth century to modern construction. A strong primary care referral base and medical staff combine to give the new physician an opportunity to build a very successful practice - very quickly. We will provide a competitive financial package, including overhead expenses, malpractice insurance, relocation and many more perks. In addition, we may be able to provide a sign on bonus, marketing, educational assistance for training physicians, and legal fee reimbursement. As a member of a HCA hospital staff, physicians have access to the latest technology and state of the art equipment. HCA's eHC.com offers web services, allowing you to create your own physician website. When you combine the affordable cost of living, a pleasant year-round climate, a broad range of recreational activities, friendly people and of course, a great career opportunity, you truly have a wonderful place to call home.

With a continued emphasis on progressive care, Rapides Regional has grown to meet the continually changing needs of our patients and the rapidly advancing technology of modern healthcare. Licensed for 312 beds, Rapides Regional is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. The medical staff includes over 250 physicians in more than 30 medical specialties. Rapides Regional offers a wide array of services, including general medicine, general surgery, cardiovascular surgery, bypass surgery, cardiac rehabilitation, neurology, neurosurgery, intensive care and telemetry, oncology services, senior behavioral health services, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, neonatal, pediatric intensive care, orthopedic services, physical therapy, skilled nursing services, respiratory therapy, lithotripsy and various outpatient services. To meet the increasing demands for healthcare, Rapides Regional just completed a new $50 million dollar expansion to our facility. The $50 million dollar expansion to the hospital included a four-story tower, a new emergency department with 25 beds, a 26-bed Intensive Care Unit and two additional floors providing 72 patient beds. The expansion consists of 125,000 square feet of new construction and approximately 4,500 square feet of renovation to the existing lobby area of the hospital. We can now provide greater technology with state-of-the-art equipment, a larger emergency room to accommodate more patients, and patient and family friendly emergency room waiting area with a designated 'children's play area'. Our continued focus and emphasis will be on patient safety. New patient rooms with the most up to date technology will feature comfortable accommodations with family members in mind.

Alexandria is an attractive, family-oriented community that is often referred to as not too big, not too small. This year, we celebrate our 200th birthday! The city was ranked 7th in affordability by a national publication in 2005 and the economic forecast is bright, named one of the fastest growing regions of the state. In addition to excellent schools, three universities and very reasonably priced homes, the city is proud of its cultural accomplishments including museums, theatre groups, a symphony, a ballet company, a wonderful zoo, just to name a few. Central Louisiana is perhaps best known as Sportsman's Paradise. Canoeing, boating, water sports, hunting and camping facilities abound. If you prefer golfing there are five beautiful courses, including one listed on the Audubon Trail. In addition, easy access to some of the states larger metropolitan areas including Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Shreveport make Alexandria the 'Crossroads of Louisiana'. Alexandria International Airport also offers daily connecting flights to many cities, making travel to your favorite destinations that much easier.

Cultural and family activities abound here in the heart of Louisiana. Whether you enjoy theater, dance, museums, music, history, ballgames or the zoo - we've got it all. Central Louisiana has something for everyone - from rodeos to ballet - from gumbo to sushi - what ever your taste may be. You can spend the morning shopping our unique shops, have a lunch of great southern BBQ or French cuisine, spend the afternoon enjoying the zoo or area plantations, stop in at a funky coffee shop, browse for antiques and enjoy a fine dinner filled with flavors from our diverse blend of cultures. Then lay your head to rest in a place where presidents have slept or a bed and breakfast overlooking a cotton field - the possibilities are endless. Central Louisiana has plenty of offer, but our true treasures are our people - proud of our heritage, in love with the beauty of our land, loyal to home and family, friendly and full of southern hospitality - ready and willing to help you enjoy your stay here in the heart of Louisiana.
