Company: Yukon-Kuskokwin Delta Regional Hospital – If you welcome a challenge and respect traditional customs and values, we welcome you!

Location: Bethel, Alaska
Description: Make a Difference! Experience the challenge!
At YKHC, our mission is Working Together to Achieve Excellent Heath. It requires the dedication and excellence of truly outstanding individuals. In the process, you may just discover where your career journey is leading you.

Outside of daily work in the main medical center, a typical day for a YKHC professional could consist of making small trips througout Bethel and the Y-K Delta region (an area the size of Oregon) to treat residents in the 56 villages and four subregional clinics we serve. You'll enjoy working with and getting to know a diverse mix of delta residents and experience an array of medical conditions and procedures you would normally not encounter in the lower 48 states.

Come join us at Yukon-Kuskokwim and grow professionally, mentally and physically. Live our mission and our passion for care.

Our staff is our most valued asset. Providing our patients the care they need a home away from home. Making them feel safe, warm, secure. You're the heart, the core of our business.

YKHC is looking for an individual to help to provide first class care to our patients. If you are interested in helping to insure that YKHC is the best in providing quality care, in a caring, conducive environment then this is the position for you!

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital (YKHC) is a 50-bed general acute care medical facility. The single-story 100,000 square foot facility is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. YKHC offers the opportunity to work with an amazing staff while truly making a difference in people's lives. Sound like a dream? Then you may be the talented individual we're looking for.

2. candidate must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a cross cultural setting
3. candidate must have a minimum of 1 year experience in diabetes prevention/case management and supervisory experience

We are really looking for someone who has experience working with grants and who is comfortable working in a dynamic environment--we are evolving how we deliver diabetes disease management to involve the Health Aides and we need someone who can work with my CHAP department and design a working model. We are struggling right now because the staff is really focused solely on the grant objectives and is resistant to this change. We need someone who will be able to engage the staff and get their buy in for this new model. We still need to function within the constraints of the grant, but this model is needed for sustainability.

Qualifications:
Degree in nursing, pharmacy, or nutrition. Preferred Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Education, Nutrition or related health field.

Two (2) years experience in a cross-cultural diabetes education required. Preferred experience in the following: supervisory and staff management, case management, RPMS/database management, grant and budget management, working in a cross-cultural, rural Alaskan setting.

RN, RPH, or RD required. Valid Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) certification required or ability to obtain within two (2) years of hire. Preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Work in a typical office, hospital, field and/or various community settings. Travel to villages via small planes, sub-arctic conditions, moderate lifting of equipment, and occasional long working hours.

Program planning; grant writing and management, public relations, effective communication skills (oral and written), organizational skills, and ability to chair meetings and teleconferences. Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office suite software, Internet, email, and RPMS/statistical/data analysis software. Preferred bilingual (Yup'ik/English).

Management of Diabetes Program staff.

Caveat: YKHC exercises Federal Law (PL 93-638), which allows American Indian/Alaska Native preference in hiring for all positions.
