• Minimum of 3 years experience • Board certified internal medicine or possess the equivalent Job Description: The Bermuda Hospitals Board requires Hospitalists to provide a supervisory role to the medical house staff and to liaise with physicians and other healthcare providers regarding referrals and discharge planning. The Hospitalists will ensure charts of medical inpatients meet the documentation standards and will also provide teaching through presentations and ward rounds. The Hospitalists will report directly to the Chief of Hospitalist Services. Responsibilities: • Work with other health care providers to improve the quality of inpatient care • Review all medical admissions with the house staff to ensure appropriate management • Be available for consultations from family practitioners, surgeons, etc. • Responsibility for unassigned medical patients; subspecialty co-management • Be available to take over the care of inpatients from other medical specialties • Participate in the management of the ICU patients • Be available for emergency assessment of unstable patients • Be competent in the performance of the procedures outlined • Attend departmental meetings • Participate in the lunch time learning lunches, CME, etc • Participate in clinical presentations PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATION: • Current registration with Medical Council in relevant jurisdiction • Eligible to register with Bermuda Medical Council HOURS OF DUTY: • Monday to Friday 0800hrs to 1700hrs • Review overnight admissions, ward round on respective team patients on a daily basis with the house staff • Second on call by pager between the hours of 1700hrs and 0800hrs and on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) for those patients Location: King Edward VII Memorial Hospital Department: Chief of Hospitalist Services Closing Date: September 1, 2008 Candidates are required to submit a completed application form, and provide a current resume with two employment references to: the Human Resources Department, Bermuda Hospitals Board, P.O.
