The Baffin Region is looking to fill the position Supervisor of Community Health Programs in the community of Cape Dorset. If you are a nurse who is looking to expand and build upon your professional skills, this might be the perfect opportunity for you. This is the senior position in the health centre, and has responsibility for managing and providing direct supervision to the other Community Health Nurses at the centre along with supervision of support staff. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor of Nursing or a Diploma in nursing combined with other equivalences or related experiences such as Nurse Practitioner certification, a certificate in Public Health, or experience in a related position where strong assessment skills have been demonstrated. Minimum two (2) years nursing experience including one (1) year in a Health Centre. A minimum of six (6) months supervisory experience is desirable. Ability to perform basic nursing, advanced nursing practices, basic laboratory work, basic radiology, pharmacy, and sanctioned/transferred medical functions (e.g., suturing), and have current CPR certification. Possession of one or more of the following would be preferable: Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation (NALS) fetal monitoring, pelvic examinations, labour and delivery experience with advanced obstetrical training. Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently. Registration or eligibility for registration with the Registered Nurse Association of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut is also required. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
