The Clinical Nurse Specialist is an advanced practice role with accountability and responsibility for improving and providing quality-nursing care to patients and families responsible to the Clinical Manager for a specialty unit or the Director for the Center of Practice Excellence. The Clinical Nurse Specialist closely articulates with the clinical management team and other health care professionals in the role of; consultant, clinical expert, educator, researcher and practitioner to maintain or improve the nursing practice rendered to patients and families within the Clinical Nurse Specialist area of expertise. Masters Degree in Nursing. Current RI Licensure or eligibility. Strong personal skills. Certification in specialty area, preferred. Meets and maintains clinical competencies measured by pre-determined credentialing standards, mandatory/safety education, and completion of Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS and/or PALS as appropriate Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years Clinical experience in Hemoc/Oncology; Chemo-certification, education and administration. Knowledge of solid tumor or hematology patients. Prefer previous advanced practice experience, previous teaching experience and prior case management experience.
