Description: Maternal Fetal Medicine Opportunity in Southeastern Wisconsin
Due to the ongoing growth and expansion of our system-wide, high-risk maternal and newborn services throughout Eastern Wisconsin, we are adding Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists to our team.

1 opening-Full-time BC/BE
64,000 population; 1 million draw area
1 hour north of Chicago on beautiful Lake Michigan

The maternal-fetal medicine program within the Aurora Health Care System delivers high-risk maternal/newborn care in five regions of the state through a network of Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists and nearly 120 OB/GYN's. OB services are provided in 10 hospitals within the system with nearly 11,000 deliveries. Two Level III facilities offer comprehensive perinatal and neonatal services and a third facility offers some level III services. Current initiatives are in place to realize the goal of having three tertiary maternal centers in the near future.

As a member of the maternal medicine team, your role will be primarily consultative with a delivery service limited to transports and strictly high-risk. Each MFM physician is based at one of three tertiary centers within the system. In addition, two days per week are devoted to providing outreach to regional acute care facilities within the respective regions. Call coverage is shared with the other MFM Specialists. Major initiatives in the areas of quality assurance and telemedicine offer additional exciting opportunities for leadership and professional growth.

Our two Level III facilities offer comprehensive perinatal and neonatal services: The Aurora Women's Pavilion, http://www.aurorahealthcare.org/services/awp/index.asp and Aurora Sinai Medical Center, both located in the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Services within these facilities include Perinatal Assessment Centers, Genetic Counseling Centers, Level III Neonatal ICU's, high-risk inpatient obstetrical services and high risk care coordination. Both facilities service a seven-county draw area encompassing a population of nearly 2 million. Aurora is also affiliated with the University of Wisconsin Medical School through its Milwaukee clinical campus offering residency and fellowship programs in a variety of specialties including OB/GYN. Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay houses a Level III NICU and is actively engaged in developing its perinatal capabilities.

Located in America's heartland, Wisconsin is a place of abundant natural beauty, diverse recreational activities, progressive educational institutions and unsurpassed economic opportunity. With 15,000 inland lakes, two Great Lakes, three National Park Service properties and 57 state parks and forests, Wisconsin is blessed with stunning natural resources. Not surprisingly, it is one of the top tourist destinations in the Midwest with four distinct seasons.

The state's towns and cities have a long history of supporting arts and cultural activities, offering visitors a wide variety of museums, galleries, performing arts, music and ethnic festivals, events and historical sites. Wisconsin also boasts top-flight professional sports teams including NBA, MLB, PGA, NFL, indoor soccer and AHL, world-class entertainment and incredible restaurants and nightclubs. The state's education system is among the nation's elite, as evidenced by Wisconsin's sixth consecutive top ranking in average ACT board scores. A strong housing market ensures that there are numerous Midwestern living choices that range from eclectic urban settings to smaller suburban areas with friendly neighborhoods and excellent primary, secondary and university school systems including several NCAA division I programs and nationally acclaimed private colleges and universities. Sophisticated, scenic, affordable and event-filled, Wisconsin has an impressive array of award-winning outdoor recreation, restaurants, world-class shopping, and one of the most convenient and "user-friendly" international airports in the world.
